Member Spotlight

Treasure Coast Community Singers is a team based organization. To be successful, strong leadership is essential. I’d like to introduce you to Phil Ratchford, current Chairman of the Board. Phil is an integral part of TCCS. You can find him everywhere, from setting up tables to shepherding the organization thru changes. He is always available to answer questions and offer guidance. So, here’s ‘All about Phil’.

Phil joined TCCS in the fall of 2019, when he and his family returned to Martin County, after having lived in North Carolina for a few years. After singing and being involved in music his whole life, Phil decided to see if there was a chorus in the Martin County area, and there was TCCS, right in his new backyard! While he was nervous to join a group of strangers, he decided to give it a try and has loved it ever since his first rehearsal!

During his time with the organization, he has taken on various roles and responsibilities. In addition to singing in the Community Chorus and with the Chamber Singers over the years, Phil has supported TCCS' operations by being involved with the work of many teams. His past experience in website management led him to become the Website Team Leader early on! He has also worked with the Concert Setup, Program, Information Management, and Ticket Teams throughout the years. In the spring of 2022, Phil was appointed to the TCCS Board of Directors and later that year, he was appointed the Chair-Elect of the Board. He took over as the Chair of the Board in June 2023 and has agreed to extend his term as Chair into the upcoming 2025-2026 season.

Outside of TCCS, Phil works for Martin County Human Services, overseeing their social services programs and managing all of their grant programs. For the past few years, he has also served as the Media Technician for Peace Presbyterian Church, where he operates the audio, video, and online streaming for the church's services. He has also served as a volunteer around Martin County, helping with the United Way Christmas Toy Drive for the past four years, assisting with the LEADERship program run by the Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce, and helping at his daughter's school, including spending a year as the PTO president. Phil is currently pursuing a master's degree in public administration at the University of Central Florida, which he plans to use to continue elevating his career in public service. Phil, Chase, and Mackenzie are thrilled to be part of TCCS and have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful group of people!

Out & About with TCCS

Treasure Coast Community Singers prides itself as the largest volunteer organization on the Treasure Coast. With 150+ members, you’ll find us volunteering at various events throughout the community with different organizations. Here are a few pictures of TCCS in action.

Home School Outreach

TCCS was proud to participate again this year in the Home School Open House on June 7th at Family Church in Port St Lucie. The purpose of the event is to connect home schoolers with organizations that can provide resources and experiences for parents and children. This year, over 300 people attended!

We were happy to connect with several families and hope to add them to our ever growing chorus family.

Memorial Day Performance

It has become a tradition for TCCS to sing the National Anthem for the Memorial Day Parade held in Stuart. This year was yet another great showing by TCCS as a large group gathered to celebrate our nation and remember those who fought for our freedom.

Rutter's Mass of the Children

On April 5th and 6th, TCCS Chamber Singers presented Rutter’s Mass of the Children. They were joined by the TCCS Middle School Chorus and singers from the Citrus Grove and Pinewood Elementary schools’ choruses. The choruses were accompanied by Carol Paul and a 13 piece orchestra in their performances at Stuart Congregational Church (Stuart) and St. Bernadette Catholic Church (Port St. Lucie).

Kristina Costello, a member of the TCCS Chamber Singers, and Mitchell Hutchins were the featured soloists for the weekend. Their beautiful delivery of Rutter's work was a treat for attendees on Saturday and Sunday.

This was truly a remarkable event!

Big Ending to TCCS 2024-2025 Season

The Treasure Coast Community Singers wrapped up their 22nd season with a rousing concert of patriotic and religious music on May17th and 18th. The chorus was joined by the Treasure Coast Fife and Drum Corps, the color guards from Knights of Columbus #10718 from St. Christopher’s Church in Hobe Sound and the Navy JROTC Unit from St Lucie West Centennial High School to honor our Veterans. Additionally, thanks to TCCS members, 90 tickets were donated and distributed to various veterans’ organization along the Treasure Coast!

Also at the concert, five scholarships were awarded to local graduating seniors. One dollar of every ticket sold throughout the season, donations from patrons and guests and the generosity of TCCS members makes these scholarships possible. Thanks to all of you who have made this program possible. This is the first year we have been able to award five scholarships!
