Dr. Douglas Jewett is the founder, CEO, and conductor of the Treasure Coast Community Singers organization. An ordained minister, he retired from full-time church music in 2018 but continues to serve the local church on a part-time basis. In addition to church music ministry, in his 45 years of conducting he has taught all levels of education from kindergarten to college.

Upon graduation from University of Tennessee with his Master’s degree in Choral Conducting, he has served churches in Tennessee and Florida. In 2014, Dr. Jewett completed his Doctor of Education studies in Organizational Leadership in Higher Education.

He has received the MARTies Arts award for Performing Artist of the year in 2010. He was also awarded the Paul Harris Fellow in 2016. In 2023 the Martin County Council on Aging awarded Dr. Jewett the Sage Award for Performing Artist in recognition for his contributions to continuing to engage Senior Adults in performing arts opportunities. He has participated as one of the ministers in Martin County Blessing of the Fleet for the past 15 years. While in Martin County, Dr. Jewett served as conductor for the Indian River Pops Orchestra from 2018-2023. Marguerite Krull

Middle School Chorus

Trained as a classical pianist and opera singer, Marguerite Krull has spent the better part of her career singing principal roles with opera companies and orchestras around the world. She has garnered praise for a variety of roles ranging from the early Baroque through Contemporary eras, and has performed as soloist with such organizations as Lyric Opera of Chicago, New York City Opera, Teatro Colón (Argentina), Washington National Opera, National Symphony Orchestra, American Classical Orchestra, Glimmerglass Opera, La Monnaie (Brussels, Belgium), Sarasota Symphony, Orlando Opera, Opéra de Québec, Oper Leipzig, Opéra Lausanne (Switzerland), Opera de Bogotá (Colombia), Handel and Haydn Society (Boston), Bach Choir of Bethlehem, and American Bach Soloists.

After moving to Stuart five years ago with her husband, Mark, and their two children, Marguerite decided to expand her career into conducting. She is very grateful to Doug Jewett for entrusting her with the leadership of the TCCS Middle School Chorus. This is Marguerite’s and the Middle School Chorus’ third season, and she is honored to direct this wonderful group of talented children.

Kay McDonald

Youth Chorus

Kay is a dedicated musician with over forty years of experience in teaching, directing, and performing. With her expressive style of conducting, and genuine love of music performance, Kay inspires our youth performers to excellence.

Currently living in Stuart, Florida, Kay is an active member of Treasure Coast Community Singers and St. Christopher’s Church Choir in Hobe Sound. Kay’s husband, Bill, is also a talented music artist, and they love performing together at several Treasure Coast area venues.

Kay holds a Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Music Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, and is a permanently certified public school K-12 music teacher. As a retired music teacher, Kay is grateful to share her strengths once again in teaching and conducting the youth of our community and sharing her love of singing with others.

A Message From Our CEO

To All Supporters of Treasure Coast Community Singers

For the past twenty-two years you have watched us perform and grow as a community musical organization. We have been blessed to get to know you, our audience and our family. We have sung almost 400 performances including over a thousand songs. We have grown from one community choir to five choirs: Community, Chamber, Ensemble, Middle School, and Youth Choruses.

As we begin our 23rd season we are excited to offer a wonderful array of themes. You will see them on our website www.tccsingers.org. If you are interested in singing with us, you see the information on the Meet and Greet, our official start for the season.

If you have attended our concerts you have heard me say the state has not awarded us grants for these past two years. We have been reliant on donations and ticket sales. Please consider making a charitable donation to our organization. It could be a one-time donation or a monthly donation. We are here because we think the community needs a choir like ours and we love keeping people singing.

Another way you might help our organization is to go on a trip with us. We are planning a river cruise on the Rhine river in June of next year. Your participation will generate a donation to TCCS. Contact me if you are interested.

We look forward to sharing this season with you.
